connecticut avenue, north of chevy chase circle, has been closed for several hours. police are hoping to get it back up and running before the morning rush-hour. of this was a devastating car wreck that started with a high- speed police chase. at around 1:00 this morning police ran a tags of this small toyota and it came back as a stolen car. when the officer had his cruiser light, the suspect began to flee. the officer immediately called for backup and k-9 units the chase went through neighborhood roads eventually down connecticut avenue toward the district. two police officers cars sustained major injuries to the front and side and at some point the driver of the stolen vehicle lost control and smashed into a massive tree in the circle and a burst into flames. >> they ran to the vehicle extracted the driver and the front seat passenger. they also got their fire extinguishers and attempted to put out the flames. there were not able to do so and not able to extract the two rear seat passengers. >> we are told the people inside the car in their late teens or early 20s
